Introduction

An Online Exhibition and Digital Collection of Meath Artefacts

This is a totally amateur effort and has been totally sponsored by myself. Meath has had many people and groups suggesting a museum for Meath from the 1930s onwards and this building or that building but none of them have got off the ground. Anyway, rather than continue to sit and listen to people suggest we have a museum I have tried to put together an online museum. The online collection could become the basis of a physical museum in the future. I commenced in January 2017.

I have included items from various museums and collections.  This is not a professional funded project so do bear with me please.  I am in the process of requesting permissions. If I have used a photo or other item I have not credited then please get in touch and I will acknowledge or remove it. I apologise and am more than happy to acknowledge or remove the item.

The items I have included are artefacts not monuments or pieces of monuments, not works of art, not books but an occasional document is included. The items must have a Meath connection – it does not have to have been in Meath or be in Meath now but it does have to have a connection to the county or to someone from the county.

I have included a selection of approximately 200 items in this first attempt. I know there are many more pieces out there and I may continue my search. If you know of any item please get in touch: noeltrim@gmail.com.
